LEGACY PROJECT returns to Q Theatre LOFT in 2016 with PLAYMARKET partnership

1 Oct 2015

We are super excited to announce that this year we will be partnering with Playmarket New Zealand to provide script advisor support for LEGACY PROJECT 3. Playmarket has a long history of empowering and representing New Zealand playwrights which fits with Legacy Project’s aims to nurture emerging LGBT Kiwi voices, providing development opportunities for all corners of our queer community to grow and share their stories on stage. We are also thrilled to have the expertise and experience of Roy Ward as our project script advisor for our third year of development. Roy is a freelance actor, theatre director and television writer. With Victor Rodger, Roy developed and directed the 2013 Auckland Fringe show BLACK FAGGOT, which won 4 fringe awards, including Best Theatre Production. BLACK FAGGOT has subsequently toured around New Zealand and to Edinburgh, Brisbane and Melbourne (twice). LEGACY PROJECT will once again be returning to the spectacular Q Theatre LOFT as our 2016 performance venue. This is a fantastic opportunity for any emerging writer to have their new work performed on stage as part of the 2016 Auckland Pride Festival, while also gaining invaluable professional development support on their writing. Will your script be one of them? If you're a writer with a brilliant idea for a short script, then there’s still time to get writing and submit. Or are you a director looking for your next big challenge? Submissions close Friday 30th October and script workshops will take place in late November. We want to share these stories because the more we share, the more we can learn about ourselves, each other and our place within the wider community.
