LEGACY PROJECT returns for our fifth development season and we’re once again searching for submissions from queer creators with their own unique stories to share on stage. Experience isn’t necessary so if you’re a queer writer or director who’s passionate about creating theatre, then here’s your opportunity to get involved. LEGACY PROJECT is a theatre development programme created to support and develop emerging theatre creators within our LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans) and queer community by giving them the resources, network and space to share their short theatrical works on stage. We’re looking for emerging writers with untold stories to share, plus energetic directors with creative vision to be part of our fifth development year. From these open submissions, six shortlisted scripts will be workshopped during a development weekend in mid-November and paired with directors to be staged as part of a week-long performance showcase during Auckland Pride Festival 2018. Participation is open to all, regardless of gender or sexuality. Everyone is invited to submit, although our priority is on supporting emerging queer theatre-makers. Our writer and director submissions are open until Friday 27th October, 5pm. Check out our website legacyproject.co.nz for more detailed submission criteria. We need to continue sharing our stories, and pass them down to future generations. By bringing people together to celebrate our unique experiences, we can recognise collective narratives, grow understanding and define our vital place within the wider community.
