YOUR QUEER STORIES ON STAGE WITH LEGACY SIX

11 Sep 2018

LEGACY PROJECT is back for our sixth development cycle and is now seeking submissions from queer creators to help them share their unique stories on stage. Experience isn’t necessary, we’re just looking for passionate writers and directors who are keen to challenge themselves and help us to share more queer stories on stage. LEGACY PROJECT provides a space for LGBTQI+ voices within our community to cultivate their talent within a professional development framework by offering the resource, guidance and network to share their short theatrical works. There is a lack of representation of queer voices on our stages and we exist to open up opportunities for all parts of our diverse queer community to take risks, tell stories and share their vital perspectives. We’re looking for emerging writers with untold stories, plus energetic directors with creative vision to be part of our sixth season. From these open submissions, six shortlisted scripts will be workshopped during our development weekend in November and paired with directors to be staged as part of LEGACY SIX, our week-long performance season during Auckland Pride 2019. Participation is open to all, regardless of gender or sexuality. Everyone is invited to submit, although our priority is always geared towards supporting emerging queer theatre-makers. Our writer and director submissions close Friday 26th October at 5pm. More details and our submission criteria can be found via our website: legacyproject.co.nz We need to continue sharing our stories and pass them down to future generations. By bringing people together to celebrate our unique experiences, we can recognise collective narratives, grow understanding and define our vital place within wider communities.
